Safety

Consent-first nearby discovery

Safety is a core product surface because HeyHere combines location, messaging, social profiles, and real-world meetings.

Waves and chat

A Wave is only a soft request. Chat opens after a mutual connection, and connection-only social links unlock only according to each user’s settings.

Blocking and reports

Blocking prevents profile discovery and Waves in both directions. Reports are stored for moderation review and can support future trust and safety workflows.

Venue sharing

The product should ask before displaying a selected place on a profile. Venue presence should expire automatically and include a Leave place control.

Sensitive data

The backend should avoid logging passwords, tokens, precise coordinates, private contact details, and chat contents. Structured logging and monitoring can track failures without exposing sensitive data.
